Georges Deltour was born at Liège,
16 December 1919. Joined the Aéronautique Militaire Belge for
instruction as pilot on 4 September 1939. When Belgium was
invaded on 10 May 1940 the Flying School was evacuated to Oujda,
Morocco. After the capitulation of France, most of the trainees
evaded to Great Britain where he arrived on 15 July 1940.
Enlisted to the RAFVR on 20 July 1940. Joined the EFTS, November
7th, 1940. Promoted LAC February 17, 1941 and commisioned
P/O 6 July 1941. He joined 58 OTU, 10 July 1941 and is
posted in for flying duties to 131 Sqn on 26 August 1941. Transferred to the newly formed 350 (Belgian) Squadron
on 17 November 1941. Further promotions to
F/O on 3 July 1942 and F/Lt (WSR) on 6 July 1943. Saw further
postings to 2 Flying Instructor School (09/02/1944), RAF College
(03/05/1944), 5 PAFU (30/06/1944) and Belgian Training School
(09/04/1945). After the War, Georges Deltour joined SABENA. He died in January
2005 |
