| From Red Deer, Alberta, joined
RCAF 1934. Transferred to RAF on Permanent Commission as P/O
on 22 July 1936 but seniority from 22 October 1934. Posted to
19 Sqn at Duxford 25 October 1936. F/O wef 22 January 1937 but
seniority from 22 April 1936. F/Lt wef 22 January 1939 but
seniority from 22 Apr 1938. He was promoted to Sqn Ldr wef 1
March 1940 and became C.O. 151 Sqn. at Martlesham Heath 5
August 1940. Shot down 18 August 1940 over Rochford. Hurricane
P3940 crashed at Tabriums Farm, Battlesbridge. 1 December 1941
saw him promoted to W/Cdr. On 01 June 1942 (Circus 178), W/C
Gordon led 350 Squadron (part of Debden Wing) as target
support of 8 Hurribombers to Brugges. During this mission W/C
Gordon and 3 members of 350 Squadron (P/O Laumans, F/Sgt
Livyns and Sgt Hansez) were shot down when this unit was
heavely engaged by 20 Fw190. MIA, he is remembered with honour
at Runnymede Memorial (Panel 64)
