Confirmed as a P/O and promoted F/O (war substantive) wef 27 July 41. Promoted F/Lt (war substantive) wef 27 July 42. Authorised to wear the Belgian Croix de Guerre 1940 with Palm wef 24 January 47. David received the "Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in The Air" in 1960. Moved to the Ground branch. Gained an OBE, 6th June 1969. Retired as Wing Commander on 28th July 1974.
