Born at Brussels on 18 March
1918. on 31 October 1936 he was admitted to the Royal Military
Academy Detached to the 13 Artillery Rgt, he passes to France
when the Country was invaded by the Germans. Escaped from
Bayonne to GB aboard the 'SS Leopold II' where he arrived
on June 24, 1940. Engaged RAFVR on 25 July 1940, was send
to RAF Depot of Gloucester ( 2 August 1940), RAF Depot
St-Athan (13 August 1940), EFTS Odiham (2 November 1940), SFTS
(15 April 1941), OTU (20 August 1941) After Training ,
he was posted to 610 Sqn (29 September 1941), 350 Sqn (2
September 1942). Rested, he joined the Headquarters ADGB on 27
July 1944. After a passage to the RAF Belgian ITS (17
August 1944) and 84 GSU (24 March 1945) he rejoined 350 Sqn
(13 April 1945). On a mission in the Lübeck area on 24 April
1945, having a probably destroyed FW-190 his plane was
hit by E/A and he had to bail out. POW, he was
repatriated on 8 May 1945. After the War he stayed in the
Belgian Air Force, ending his carreer as Colonel. Died on 23
September 1978, aged 60. |
